Sunscreen Showdown: Mineral vs Chemical
Welcome to AcneClinicNYC’s blog, where we delve into the ongoing debate of chemical vs mineral sunscreen. It’s a crucial choice for anyone serious about skincare, and we’re here to help…
Light chemical peels are peels suited for treatment of acne, uneven pigmentation, dryness and fine wrinkles. They contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids such as citric acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid and tartaric acid.
At our clinic, we perform chemical peels with glycolic, lactic and malic acids.
Glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane, and has mild exfoliating qualities. It is the most common acid used in peels and it is multifunctional. Due to its low molecular mass it penetrates the epidermis easily, working on a deeper level of the skin.
Chemical peels containing glycolic acid loosen up the top layers of the skin, exfoliate it away and also produce collagen growth.
Lactic acid comes from sour milk or bilberries. It is also great at exfoliation and removal of dead skin cells which results in healthier skin. It has the property to attract water, and thus can have moisturizing effects as well.
There is no real downtime when it comes to light chemical peels. You can return to wearing makeup and going to work the next day. However, it does not mean that there will not be any side effects. During the 3-7 days post treatment, your skin may appear red, dry and flaky. It is important to follow the at-home post treatment routine that your esthetician recommends you.

Over 10 years of skin care experience. Best acne clinic in NYC
My daughter was treated for acne at AcneClinicNYC, and I always wanted to try PRP for anti-aging (I’ve read a lot about it being the most gentle way of rejuvenation). Oh my gosh, I fell in love with this treatment. I do four sessions a year now and plan to stick with it. Every treatment feels like a breath of fresh air, and I can see how thankful my skin is: bright, tight, and lifted!
I have been battling acne for the last 18 years. I have tried every single antibiotic, medication, crème, soap, topical, etc. you name it. I did see some results that I was actually pleased with while on Accutane/Isotretinoin.
I tried every product made for acne with no results. Once on their treatments and products my acne cleared up. I learned so much about my acne and my skin. Their home regimen are entirely personalized!
I have had the most amazing experience since I started the Acne Treatment Program with Veronika 2 months ago! My face is almost flawless but beyond that I have developed a great friendship with her.
